The School Day

Carrdus feels like home. Modern, bright and engaging classrooms set around a beautiful main hall, complete with grand staircase and wood burner. There is is no greater pleasure than seeing happy girls and boys enjoying all that Carrdus has to offer.

Days at Carrdus are busy and engaging. Smaller classes and first-rate facilities ensure that children get the best possible start to their school life. Our environment reflects our ethos and our children have plenty of space to let off steam and enjoy the outdoors for both work and play. Our children are challenged, busy and happy but have plenty of free time to enjoy the beautiful gardens.

Our eleven-acre site is ideal for getting muddy, climbing trees and enjoying Outdoor Learning. The grounds lend themselves to football, cricket, tag rugby and cross-country running and our outdoor heated swimming pool is used every day in the summer months. We have several netball and tennis courts and our large hall is used for indoor sports, music concerts, drama performances, assemblies and our legendary roller skating club.

The children swim regularly each week from April to October in our 17-metre heated outdoor swimming pool and even the most reluctant participants become confident swimmers. Children have Water Confidence lessons in Nursery and from Reception to Year 6 they will swim three or four times a week.

Our relationship with Tudor Hall School gives us a unique advantage as our children can regularly access Tudor Hall’s specialist school and sports facilities including floodlit all-weather pitches, a well-equipped Design & Technology workshop and modern Drama studio.

I was looking for a school for my son which balanced academic learning with a chance to explore and just be a child. I chose Carrdus because of the family feel, the extensive grounds which provide wonderful opportunities for outdoor learning and because of the kind and calm atmosphere. I have definitely made the right decision and my son’s beaming smile at school confirms this.

Carrdus Parent - Year 2

I fell in love with Carrdus the moment I looked round; it was obvious to see that the children were happy and that the staff were a strong team. My decision to send them there was without doubt the right one, due to the unfailing pastoral care that Carrdus provides alongside the competitive academic curriculum, the wonderful range of sports and all the other activities on offer. It has been a great privilege for my daughters to enjoy the beautiful grounds and facilities.

Carrdus Parent - Year 6

We were looking for a school that offered a well-rounded education with lots of extra learning opportunities but that also had a high degree of academic rigour. Having moved from London we also wanted somewhere that had lots of outdoor space to allow for exploration and learning beyond the classroom. Carrdus offered us all these things in a welcoming, friendly and professional environment that our daughter has thrived in. The school has delivered on all our expectations.
